The B-52s Extend Las Vegas Residency with Additional 2025 Dates

More than two years after announcing their farewell tour, legendary new wave band The B-52s are keeping the party alive, extending their Las Vegas residency at The Venetian Resort with a new run of shows scheduled for 2024. The group will return to the stage on April 11, 12, 16, 18, and 19, giving fans another chance to see them in action.

Formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976, The B-52s became icons of the new wave genre with their eclectic style and infectious energy. Their breakout album, Cosmic Thing (1989), remains a career high point, peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and featuring hits like “Love Shack” and “Roam,” both of which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Over four decades, they released seven studio albums and have toured the world, becoming renowned for their quirky image and genre-defining sound.

Originally, The B-52s announced their farewell tour in 2022, which included three initial shows at The Venetian in October of that year. Due to overwhelming fan response, the band added more dates in May, August, and September 2023. They will wrap up their current residency on November 13 but have now committed to one final set of performances in 2024.

With a lineup that has included Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland, and Cindy Wilson, The B-52s have stayed true to their roots while evolving over the years. Founding guitarist Ricky Wilson, Cindy's brother, passed away in 1985, and Strickland retired from touring in 2013, but the band’s signature sound remains intact.

Reflecting on their farewell tour, Schneider shared, “No one likes to throw a party more than we do, but after almost a half-century on the road, it’s time for one last blowout with our friends and family … our fans.” Pierson echoed the sentiment, recalling the band’s humble beginnings: “Who knew what started as a way to have some fun and play music for our friends at house parties in Athens in 1977 would evolve into over 45 years of making music and touring the world. It’s been cosmic.”

The B-52s' extended farewell promises to be a celebration of a career that has spanned generations and captivated audiences worldwide. Their upcoming residency dates are set to be another unforgettable chapter in the band’s storied history, allowing fans to join them for one last "Love Shack"-style bash in Vegas.
